silk dress photo shoot

I am normally on the less pointy side of the camera, looking through the viewfinder, rather than being the one captured.  However, I couldn't resist the chance to be swathed in 20 metres of hand printed silk and twirl around in the sea breeze at sunset on Monument Hill in Fremantle.

The fabric was printed by Louise Snook for the Beyond Garment exhibition, held last year at the Fremantle Maritime Museum.  With the addition of some hand twined silk straps, it was transformed into a billowing dress, fit for a cartwheeling princess.

Louise was wielding the camera as the sun set over the port city.  The "Freo Doctor" blew on demand and at times the fabric ended up over my head.  We had a real giggle, then picnicked on the lawn. Our first creative collaboration.  Expect more...
